Iris Dexter has the proportionally thickest eyebrows of all my characters I've ever created.
I did a picture very similar to this years ago. Good grief, it might have even been a decade ago. It was in color and done in Photoshop when I didn't have a clue who to do anything nice in Photoshop. Thought a traditional media revamp would work nicely. Fortunately, it does!
One of my better pieces this Inktober. My favorite part of drawing Iris is her hair and all the little springs and curlicues and how some of them just stick out in different directions. I've always wondered what it would look like to animate her. You'd have to simplify her hair, obviously, 'cause animation, but how would it look? It's a thought.
My biggest regret about this piece is that I can't make her dark enough. Iris is DARK. The value of her clothes, unless she's wearing black, is almost always lighter than her skin, but I can only get so dark with graphite. Maybe I'll do a neeeeeeww version in the digital space to better showcase her actual design.
I'd looked up classic Batman covers to replicate them (in some fashion or another) for her stack of comics, one of which was that classic shot of Batman using Robin as a body shield, and that's sort of-ish what the bottom one is. Though the text isn't there and why would it be on the back of the comic and not the front? But yeah, that's the deep lore.
Thanks for reading~
