His head's not that big in-universe. This was meant to be just his head, but some head angles beg for a pose to match. Of course, you know, I coulda woulda shoulda made the proportions make sense, but eh. *shrugs*
I remember reading on Twitter that too many people have kids' book portfolios full of cheery-looking kids and not enough children feeling other emotions. So here's an sour boy. His name is Billy Petar.
I wish I'd kept his eyebrows in a single shape. The intent was to create more sharp points, but it just looks like a poor execution of shaggy eyebrows.
Other than that, this picture is executed quite well, I feel. I mentioned sharp points earlier. Said points, more specifically triangles, can imply a dynamic, energetic, aggressive, or dangerous nature, and Billy Petar here is all these things. The point of his sour mouth, his pointy sideburns, widow's peak (and the shape of his buzz cut in general), the way his eyebrows cut off his eyes, and even the shine on his eyes speak to that "triangular" nature. He is still a child, though, with a child's mind, warped as it may be, so the roundness is a good balance against the points. Roundness (circles by extension) can feel friendly, youthful, and harmless.
One other thing. I added that white line from his widow's peak to help separate it from the rest of his hair. See how the white line is outlined, enclosed in black lines? A more graphic look with just the white line cut through without any lines showing where it is would be better.
Thanks for reading~
