Gaaaahhhhh...

This was never meant to be an inked piece. I made this sketch almost a year ago, but that wasn't the reason. From the start, this picture was built entirely on a wash of color and light. Digital color and light. The minor props were important, yes, but the focus was the way the color stretched across the sky. I can fabricate a sky in the digital space. Traditional materials, let alone ink, not so much. I don't know how. I enjoy looking at intricate inking. Can't really say the same about actually doing it. Or any use for it, given the category of my work. So, why did I try? I dunno. As I say, this was never meant to be an inked piece.

Well, let's start off with the positives. The way the trees overlap each other and cast shadows is pretty cool. The design of the trees themselves is quite nice as well. Uh... the structure of the sitting person is good. The white outline of the fire adds to its glow. And that's about it.

Really, I don't have much to add that I haven't indicated already, so I'll just say this: the ultimate problem is I can't ink good to save my life.

Thanks for reading~
