My first (and incidentally only) foray into using colored pencils for this Inktober and my first attempt at complex use of colored pencils.
Not... entirely sure what my process for this was, but I believe the process was this. I started in our bottom left (her right) side with a reddish-orange. In the center and just near the top is a lighter orange, and at the top, a rich yellow. To give it a cooler, richer hue, I went over the oranges with a... fuchsia, maybe it was? A deep bluish purple, at any rate. Of course, you know, not that you could tell. This photo is terrible.
The picture itself I love. What's more, I love delicate, expressive hands. The way her pinkie twists slightly to the side and her pointer over-reaches her other two fingers... Even the way her hand is shaded that make her hand look soft. I'm not sure what I had in mind for the sketch, but this is one of those infrequent instances where the final piece is better than the sketch.
There are two names I've got for her: Dolly and Moira. With her last name being Callahan, Dolly sounds best: Dolly Callahan. On the other hand, Moira has maturity and poise the name 'Dolly' simply does not. Despite her what could considered "cute" features and what I would imagine to be a small stature, this female is an adult woman. Solitary, reserved, intelligent, of gentle birth, so to speak, but tightly wound and with a short fuse. I usually try to infuse some emotion in a character's face, but this starkly blank, pursed lips face fits that personality to a T. But Moira Callahan doesn't sound that great. I guess her name could be Moira Dolly Callahan. Hmm...
I have no idea where she is, where she's going or why, but there're some ideas I've got. Feel like she's going somewhere with a flowing cloak, across some plain, even some street or boulevard.
This may be a good candidate for a digital recreation.
Thanks for reading~
