I had to restart this one at least two times. Maybe three times, but I specifically only recall two times. In fact, I'd drawn this first, wasn't 100% happy with it, started a new version, wasn't happy with that one, tried to erase it, and bent the paper. So, 'cause I had to make something, I went back to this one.
I don't dislike this one, not at all. It's a good expression, and the line value is a lot better than I thought it was when I first did it. My biggest issue with it is that it's a bit flat. I'd wanted something simple but something with some dimension. The best way to achieve that would be to do a 3/4 view, but for some reason, it just wasn't coming out the way I needed it to.
The shading helps a lot. Light and shadow inevitably carve out depth. But it's not enough, I feel. It's still a bit flat.
Thanks for reading.
