Noel di Vanucci WIP - Lines and Flats

Her hair was supposed to be based on Jessica Rabbit/Veronica Lake, but wow, she came out looking way more like Jessica Rabbit than I intended...

The main function of this piece was originally supposed to be an emotion test of sorts for Noel, as I'd just finalized (more or less) her design. But the pose was so crisp and clean, I wanted to refine it.

Noel di Vanucci's uniform is based on 1960s air stewardess uniforms. I like it because it's iconic and fairly recognizable but also because it can carry a sense of class or style. Air travel used to be thought of as luxurious, glamorous, something exciting, you know? My fav is the silly "floating" hat. It's not actually floating, but it creates a much more interesting, much more lighthearted silhouette. Paired with her voluminous hair, it makes Noel truly stand out as Noel.

Her crew of airmen wear orange, which complements their counterpart allies, seamen that wear blue. BUT I needed a pop of color that wasn't on the hot spectrum, so now she has blue eyeshadow.

Also, her far eye has almost completely disappeared, but I wanted it to be visible. Might change that in the future, but it has interesting design potential as far as expression goes. So does just having the one eye, but that's besides the point. Still haven't totally settled on her personality, so I may ditch this idea, but I sort of thought of her as two-faced, so I thought it would be intriguing for her to appear physically two-faced. A fun telegraph. Of course, it's just a totally made up effect I'm doing because her hair is hanging in front of her face, but it's striking. In my head, at least. Or was. I've since done this by now, so you'll see how it turned out tomorrow.

Also, just realized she looks like she's holding the file toolbar up with her fingertips. She looks very proud of herself.
