Mandarin WIP - Finishing Touches

There were plenty of little touches I wanted to add to this fleet of babies. Little things to add to really bring the life to the whole lot of them.

I have no idea why I save flush for those more "painterly" pictures. Probably something to do with lighting or something. Well, running with the browns and reds, I imagined adding a red flush to all the babies' faces. The primary focus was on the cheeks and nose, particularly the nose. A nose is like the perfect vase on an otherwise ordinary tabletop. Therefore, special attention was paid to the noses. However, as they're babies, rosy cheeks are a must, so the facial features, I hope, are more or less framed nicely by the areas of flush. Makes them look like they've got some life to them, anyway.

Really quickly...

Black lineart is nice. It's punchy and classic. Makes a good strong statement. But before I added the flush, I tried changing the black lineart to brown. It softens the image and makes it more cohesive with the rest of picture.

It's almost imperceptible. Still though, I think it makes a difference. As a last finishing touch, a very slight red cast over the entire image is the final piece to tie any straggling colors back to the reds and browns. Also, it adds a warmness that the browns lack. In all honesty, it may be a bit too unified now. But it's finished, and I'm happy with it.

That's all. I hope it's still as good when I look at it later on. I suppose there's nothing I can do about that, but I'm glad to have completed this at last.

Thanks for reading.
