Here's the only page for that two-week comic a bit before and after I finished work on the final pencils. Assuming I'm not in a ditch somewhere, I'm far past this point by the time you see this, but I love process, so I'm sharing it.
As you can tell by the title, the... title of this short strip is "You Found a POTION!" In line with the game-related topics I had for comics, this is no different. It's based around the idea of finding food-like consumables in the field. Specifically a potion. Wouldn't it go off at some point? It's a simple idea with an admittedly simple joke, but it legitimately made me laugh, so I figured not everything has to be ultra, mega complex.
Sheriff is on low health when he spots a potion. He picks it up and is about to drink it when he sees it's super moldy. Disgusted, he puts it down and walks away. Some random adventurer guy picks it up and drinks it and almost instantly turns into a skeleton.
There's basically only one background (as seen in the final penciled version), and two different panels are from the same standing position (which accounts for the place-holding sixth panel), but I like this. It's got a nice enough variety of camera zooms, it's straightforward, and because Sheriff and the random beardo are wearing red, they'll stand out nicely against the greener behind them.
Sheriff is taking the place of Jay here because I didn't want to keep drawing her. Also, Sheriff is the sensible one; he's more likely to notice the potion has gone sour. What the adventurer did is a very Jay move. I didn't want her in this at all, so that's why she's not him. He's a throwaway and I'll probably never use him again, but I do quite like his design.
I am continuously amused by how thickly built Sheriff is put together. He looks like he has proportionately larger hips and bigger boobs than Jay. All that along with his almost consistent lack of neck. Good grief...
At any rate, thanks for reading.
