I may have mentioned this before, but for some reason, I love drawing the mustachioed Hudson Stone a lot, but when it comes to inking, flatting, and shading, I'm not that thrilled. Now that I think about it, it might be that his color scheme is not that interesting to me. He's got all my favorite colors (red and green), is fairly simply in design, and is basically the only blond in the main cast so he's unique-ish among the bunch. So maybe it's not the color scheme? I dunno. I feel like it's related to that somehow.
One of the issues with drawing him is actually one of my favorite features of his: his mustache. It obscures his mouth. Depending on his expression, it can be really difficult to communicate what his mouth is doing, if he's smiling or frowning. Smile lines and lines at the corners of his mouth can help sell the expression a bit better. Still though, big mustaches that hang over the mouth can be difficult to work around.
Another slightly smaller thing is his hat. He's balding, so he normally wears a hat, like that armed forces-type hat he's wearing here. And it's not that easy to draw from different angles. Really, it's just a matter of practicing, but as of now, it's a bit challenging.
On the flip side, Hudson's eye-eyebrow combo really makes it easy for him to emote, particularly because of how scraggly his eyebrows are. With his equally scraggly hair and mustache, he has a decidedly rumpled look about him. Rumpled but not unfriendly. That beret, with its asymmetrical floppiness, adds to the scruffy, rough-and-tumble look. Also, I just noticed that shaggy Hudson Stone next to his best friend, the puffy, bloated-looking Jay Vignette, make a nice pair. Visually, anyway. They both look like has-beens.
