Sometimes, the pencils I scan are in very good condition. Sometimes, they're in very bad condition. These are some of those pencils.
In times like these, I have to go over them in grey to redefine the lines. The original lines, as pencil, may be too faint or too unclear to ink with any real certainty. On my own, it's bad enough, but when I'm recording videos for speedpaints, it's even worse. I don't want to spend too much time doing and undoing a line because I can't see what I'm supposed to be inking. Yes, I could edit it out, but that's bothersome. Plus, the additional time makes the files larger and more unwieldy. For this reason, I usually scope out which lines need further defining and attend to them "off-camera."
And sometimes, because I like the way it looks, I end up adding lines to other places on the drawing if I don't need to.
