The flats of the first girl character in the speedpaint/art series "We City Folk."

If I were rather more gifted in my ability to do lineart, I would certainly do more completely flat work. I like that style. One of the greatest pulls for me, regarding flat art, is how well it translates to animation. At least in comparison to art with the shading and the lighting and whatnot. As a lover of Silver Age comics, I am very much interested in the ability of lineart to service the needs of the flats: line value can suggest weight, crosshatching can become shading, and various inking techniques can create different materials. And then, of course, is the road of thin, uniform lines like a lot of contemporary art. I like and am probably going to stick with detail, but flats have their own place, and it's a clean, simple, and appealing one.

Also, probably not going to make a ton of flat stuff 'cause the shading, and detail is half of my speedpaint content. I'd hardly have anything to film.
