"We City Folk" Backdrop Template

I needed a backdrop, something customizable that could go behind the 16 characters and take up negative space but something that would have some minimal visual interest. In addition, I wanted something very Animal Crossing-esque, so I thought, "Hey, doesn't Animal Crossing have villager cards or something? I could make a backdrop like that." So here it is.

The basic idea is the same as the amiibo card I used for reference. The rounded boxes, some of the specific shapes inside, the dots, and many other things. I modified the nameplate to incorporate the first and last name I gave the characters, and I made that upper right number the emblem for whether they were a boy (B) or girl (G) and which number the character is, i.e. the first boy would be B01.

Ugh... Had I possessed a program like Adobe Illustrator or else possessed steadier hands, the graphics inside the boxes would've look a little less goofy. Not slick enough, I feel. They don't have the crispness I would like them to have or that the rest of the backdrop does have. Everything else, I think, looks great. Whatever. You live, you learn.

This awful grey is, yes, pretty awful, but that's where the customization comes in. The greys are just meant for me to see the proportional values and how they're balanced amongst each other. There's a handy adjustment layer... somewhere that allows for a quick change in hue (the color), saturation (the intensity of said color), and value (the brightness or darkness of said color). I could make it pale green, navy blue, or mostly like this but with a touch of brown. Good stuff. Kinda regret not recording this. Woulda made a good bonus duck.
