Good morning!
As of June 5th, the artist has officially begun production of a set of pinups for a brand new speedpaint/art series titled "Mini Fortress 2."
For this series, the artist chose to draw all nine mercenaries from a video game they (the artist) derive artistic inspiration, Team Fortress 2. This game, as I'm told, is a first-person shooter featuring humourous characters set in the early to mid 1970s. One of its trademarks is its in-game store and random drop system which may provide them with hats, weapons, and other items. The breadth of the items' diversity allows players to make the low roster of nine playable characters look quite unique. Not one for violence if I can help it. A fine hat is fine for me.
In the past, the artist has leaned towards a style similar to the TF2 comics. But not this time! This time, they're "pushing for a more cartoony look," as they say. "I also wanted to try and really push and twist the posing, since most of my pinups are usually just standing there. I want to push it to a real extreme here, at least by my usual fare, anyway." I'd say the posing is certainly more extreme! I'm quite unsure as to what a fair number of them are doing! Great work!
Pre-production has been completed. You're reading this on June 12th, but at the time of this announcement, the first stage of production has almost been completed. Should the artist remain on schedule, it should have been finished by the end of Friday, June 9th. The next and longer stage should begin on Monday, June 12th. That's today! Each picture will go through the process of inking, flatting, blocking, and finally, through finishing touches over the course of four days, one day for each step, which totals one piece taken from inks to finality a week. Officially, anyway, as the artist likes to work ahead. Including creating thumbnail images and relevant blurbs, production on "Mini Fortress 2" officially wraps up on Sunday, August 13th.
The artist has not planned precisely when any of these videos will be released. The pictures will be released the same day as the videos.
This series will be in production alongside the artist's other speedpaint/art series in production "We City Folk." I suppose the Animal Crossing one yields more, as it has 16 characters, yet the characters themselves are less complicated than the Team Fortress 2 one. Production on "We City Folk" will wrap up several days before production on "Mini Fortress 2" is ready to ship. Odd how these things turn out, isn't it?
