Atmospheric lighting used to be beyond me. While I'm by no means a master, the stuff I pull off looks a great deal more believable than it would have years ago.
Fire is such an odd thing. It's associated with red, but it's more orange than red. You can color it with orange, but the glowing quality comes from yellow and the light that radiates from it leans towards gold. Even its shape is weird. It's fluid, flexible, and full of motion. You know, like water. But fire's spikier and more emotive than water, so it's like very angry water. It's entirely possible that none of this is odd at all and I'm just ruminating excessively.
